Position Summary:

As the Lead Line Cook, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation. You will be responsible for leading the line during service, ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently, and mentoring junior kitchen staff. Your culinary expertise and leadership will help us deliver outstanding dishes to our guests and contribute to our reputation for excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Line Leadership: Take charge of the line during service, effectively communicating with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations, accurate plating, and timely order preparation.
  2. Food Preparation: Prepare, cook, and plate dishes in accordance with established recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards. Maintain consistency and presentation throughout service.
  3. Quality Control: Ensure all food leaving the kitchen meets high standards of taste, presentation, and safety. Conduct taste tests and make necessary adjustments as needed.
  4. Training and Mentorship: Provide guidance and training to junior kitchen staff, including line cooks and prep cooks. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  5. Inventory Management: Assist in inventory management by monitoring and maintaining food supplies, minimizing waste, and reporting any shortages or quality issues.
  6. Sanitation and Safety: Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines. Keep the kitchen clean and organized, including equipment maintenance and sanitation.
  7. Menu Development: Collaborate with the head chef and sous chef to develop and refine menu items, specials, and seasonal dishes. Offer creative input and suggest improvements.
  8. Adaptability: Be flexible in adapting to changing menus, ingredients, and guest preferences. Handle special dietary requests and accommodate various dietary needs.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a line cook in a high-volume restaurant.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent certification is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, kitchen equipment, and food safety protocols.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Creativity and passion for food.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
